Welcome To Our School!

Founded by visionary educator Walter Shuchatowitz z”l, Bi-Cultural opened its doors in 1956 to offer Jewish students a dual-curriculum education of the highest caliber and to immerse them in a warm and nurturing environment providing a robust and challenging academic experience in both Judaic and secular studies.

Bi-Cultural has long held to a whole-child approach, recognizing that each child is an individual and learns differently. In the school’s small classes, every child enjoys the close attention and continuous monitoring of talented and caring teachers, focused on individual and social growth, and nurturing of interests and talents. Bi-Cultural’s program is designed to inspire in each student both a lifelong love of learning and the joy of Jewish life.

Our Accreditation & Educational Affiliations

BCHA is accredited by the New England Association of Schools & Colleges (NEASC) and the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools (CAIS). In addition to the foregoing, we are also members of the Prizmah Jewish Day School Network, the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), the Center for Initiatives in Jewish Education (CIJE) and the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC).

Our Campus

Located on 13 tranquil acres in beautiful north Stamford, Connecticut, Bi-Cultural’s expansive facilities offer students all the amenities of a big school experience in a small school atmosphere.  On our well-equipped campus, students from Pre-K through grade 12 find all they need for an outstanding education.

There is a dedicated Early Childhood wing with its own age-appropriate playground and a “Makerspace Junior,” specifically designed as an inviting setting to challenge young minds and little hands to fully explore math, science and art activities at their own pace.

All Bi-Cultural students have the opportunity to take advantage of multiple outdoor spaces including playing fields, a Gaga pit, basketball courts, four-square courts and a Lower School playground. Facilities also include a gymnasium for PE classes, special events, league basketball and volleyball games, plus a stage where dramatic and musical productions and holiday presentations are performed.

The campus also includes a Beit Midrash, a second Makerspace serving Lower and Middle School students, computer and science labs, a spacious library with resources to serve all students and assist them in their research or recreational book lending, plus a dedicated art studio. A multi-purpose room offers additional activity space. The BCHA Upper School is located in its own fully-equipped two-level wing.

On the BCHA campus, there is space for a multitude of experiences and activities so all of our students can grow, explore and find their place to shine.

OUR EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

At BCHA, teachers and administrators truly know each child and no student falls through the cracks.  Academic exceptionalism alongside Torah and Jewish values fosters intellectual, social and emotional growth. Emphasis on creating a deep connection with the State of Israel also frames the educational experience at BCHA. Here, students gain a strong foundation in both religious and general education, are committed to Torah values, and are well-prepared for the opportunities and challenges of life beyond BCHA.

Led by a staff of highly-qualified and caring teachers, BCHA offers unparalleled opportunities for students to learn, discover and create in a safe and happy environment. In every grade and at every stage, a Bi-Cultural student is provided with extraordinary options for exploring, inquiring, thinking, creating and leading.  In the school’s warm and nurturing environment our students soar. With Torah and Jewish values at its core, the BCHA program is a celebration of the traditions, teachings, proud history and accomplishments of the Jewish people.
